BRANDING
With an African slant
We wanted the magazine to retain its cool imagery and positioning as a publication for the people. So we made it slightly rough around the edges while retaining a modern, clean look and feel. Our guide for the visual language was vintage modernised, with added character coming from references to African style and heritage.
01

First attempt, no character
A bold font was necessary to give an aggressive edge to the brand. However our first
attemp lacked character.
02

the next, too much character
The issue with the secont attempt was that it was trying to hard and looked more jolly
than aggresive.
03

Finally, Things take shape
The penultimate attempt was closer to what we wanted. From here it was just about
adding an African feel to it.
04

Final Version
A bold font was necessary to give an aggressive edge to the brand. However our
first attemp lacked character.

Mobile Optimised
Website
Redesign
We kept the website straightforward, made it mobile-first with a
shallow-hierarchy. This encouraged browsing and focused on simplicity and achieving the brand goals.
